Tar Heel Fan Drops Song Honoring Leaky Black’s Return

This UNC basketball fan is extremely excited about Leaky Black’s decision to spend another year in Chapel Hill.

Leaky Black used to be one of the most criticized players the UNC basketball program has had in recent memory. However, after being an integral part of the Tar Heels remarkable turnaround last season Carolina fans have come to appreciate Leaky as they should have all along.

When UNC defeated Syracuse on Senior Night last season there were rumblings that it might not be the last time the Concord, NC native ran out of the tunnel at the Dean Dome. On April 15th, Black officially announced his decision to return to Carolina for a fifth season courtesy of the extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA due to COVID.

Tar Heel fans everywhere were thrilled to hear that not only Black, but also Armando Bacot, RJ Davis, and Caleb Love would be returning to run it back for UNC next season.

However, one fan (Mike Catalano on YouTube) was so excited about Leaky’s return that he decided to make a song about it:

This Rolling Stones parody praises Black for his defensive prowess and ability to shut down opposing teams best players. There’s also some comedic value and shots at Duke (along with some profanity) included.

Black averaged 4.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists last season. While these are solid numbers, Leaky’s impact goes far beyond the stat sheet as he is one of the best defenders in the country. He proved this by shutting down star players such as Justin Lewis, Matthew Mayer, and AJ Griffin throughout Carolina’s tournament run.

Not only is Black a terrific player on the court, he is also a tremendous leader and representative of the team off the court and in the media. His decision to return to Carolina was a win for Leaky, UNC, and the sport of college basketball.

With still over three months of offseason left, UNC fans can now pass some of that time by enjoying this ode to their defensive stopper as they anticipate next season.
