Reed & Cash Claim Silver Medal At USA Diving Open Championships

Panthers wrap up action at USA Diving Open Championships

MIDLAND, TX – The Pitt diving duo of Dylan Reed and Cameron Cash claimed a silver medal at the USA Diving Open Championships in the synchronized 3m Springboard Thursday evening in Midland, Texas.

“This is the start of their partnership, and we are excited to hopefully see them in some international meets in the future,” said head diving coach Katie Kasprzak. “To have two talented athletes on the same team is really exciting as they push and motivate each other and the rest of the team to be the best they can be. “

Reed and Cash posted a score of 308.64 to claim silver in the event as they were just 23.82 points behind the eventual gold medal winners. The duo took home second in the talented competition that featured nine tandems of divers.

The duos fourth dive of the meet turned out to be their best as the back 2 ½ somersault pike earned them a score of 63. They also posted three others dives that earned them a score over 50 for the meet.

Reed was then able to secure bronze in the 1m springboard as he posted a score of 324 in the finals. Cash also earned a fifth place finish in the 1m springboard with a score of 322.35.

Incoming freshman Rachel Dickerson had a strong showing in the 3m springboard as she finished in 20th place with a score of 233. Fellow incoming freshman Ethan Radio took home 24th place in the 1m springboard with a score of 246.85.
