Lenoir-Rhyne Women’s Soccer Hires Pair of Assistants

Head Women’s Soccer Coach Dean Ward has announced the hiring of Nathan Mangione and Allie Zueger as Assistant Coaches to complete his coaching staff. Mangione comes to Hickory after a professional and international playing career while Zueger was part of last year’s final four team and played her last three collegiate years here at Lenoir-Rhyne.

Following his professional playing career, Mangione has spent the last seven years as the Director of Goalkeeper and Coach for Waxhaw Athletic Association. Mangione helped develop and deliver goalkeeping curriculum for all goalkeepers from U7-U19. Also, Mangione worked as a Goalkeeping Personal Trainer for Golden Gloves Goalkeeper Training out of Charlotte, NC

Zueger played in 45 career games as a forward for the Bears, scoring seven goals and adding thirteen assists in her three-year career here at Lenoir-Rhyne. Zueger was a two-team ALL-SAC Team selection, earning second team in 2021 spring season and third team last fall.

“I am delighted to be able to round out our staff with the additions of Nathan and Allie,” said Ward. “Both Nathan and Allie will specialize with their respective Goalkeeper and Forward position groups. The ability to add a position-specific element to our coaching sessions will only aid our team and individual player development. Nathan is a bright and energetic Goalkeeper Coach with a tremendous goalkeeping education having worked with some of the best goalkeeper coaches in the nation and also from playing abroad in Germany. Allie comes fresh off her career here at LR – adding a unique perspective of what LR soccer is all about. Allie has been coaching locally at the youth level and this role is a great opportunity for her to further give back to the game and LR. I am excited to have Nathan and Allie’s infectious energy and passion on staff”
