Get to Know: 2023 6’10 Tai Hamilton

Player: Tai Hamilton
Class: 2023
Height: 6’10
AAU: ACE Elite
High School: 1 of 1

There is a player on the west side of the state in North Carolina that I feel has gone a little under the radar, especially with the number of programs searching for size. 2023 6’10 Tai Hamilton is a big man that continues to fly under the radar but is a prospect that has worked hard, continued to develop, and I think that the best years of his basketball career are ahead of him. When watching the young man, we are talking about a fluid, mobile 6’10 prospect that makes his impact on the boards, being a presence on the glass, and manning the paint. But you can see that he only has a chance to continue to develop his overall feel for the game and be a good presence on offense. Hamilton is just now adjusting to his size, as we spoke to Coach Pena from ACE Elite more about his story.

“Tai started playing basketball at 4 years old and was always the tallest player on his team. Despite this, he played the guard position up until 5th grade when they moved him to center. He didn’t play competitively again until last July when the head coach at Olympic found him in the candy aisle of Harris Teeter. Around this same time, a friend asked if he wanted to join ACE ELITE and play in Phenom Summer Havoc last July. Tai had since then started to fall in love with the game again and working very hard to catch up to his peers.”

Right now, Hamilton has heard and garnered interest from a few schools, while also holding an offer from Charlotte. But he is one that you could see more schools getting involved after a strong upcoming high school season.

What Has Been Said:

“Hamilton has been a name popping up more and more this summer and deservingly so. At 6’10 and with his fluidity, there is certainly a place for him at the next level and he is one big that you can still work with and develop. But he utilizes his length well, whether being active on the boards or protecting the rim, but he also runs the floor well at 6’10. He still has room to develop on the offensive end, but still a good big to watch out for more.”

“Hamilton is a big man that flies a little under the radar but we watched him this past weekend and standing at 6’10, he moves extremely well. Also does a terrific job in protecting the rim without fouling, operates well on the block, and does a great job on the boards.”
