SINKING VALLEY — The Altoona golf team, and Hollidaysburg’s Wes Eberhart, qualified for next Tuesday’s District 6 Class 3A Boys Golf Championships, thanks to their showing on Thursday at the sectional event held at the Sinking Valley Country Club.
State College’s AJ Corson was the top golfer on the day, finishing at 73. His team also qualified for Tuesday’s event at the Scotch Valley Country Club. It will begin at 10 am
Eberhart finished one stroke behind Corson for second at 74. Altoona’s Trent Meyers tied for third at 75. Joining Meyers were teammates Krieghoff Cummign (82), Sam Colombo (82), Wyatt Young (82), Landon Baker (83) and Sean Eakins (83).
As a team, State College finished at 309 while Altoona was second at 323. Hollidaysburg was third at 335.

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Central’s Griffin Snowberger turned in the top scorer at the District 6 Boys 2A Golf Sectional on Thursday at the Scotch Valley Country Club, finishing the day with a 72.
That will get him and his teammates into the championships back at Scotch Valley on Tuesday beginning at 10 am
Joining him will be Zach Oakes (82), Nick Baum (9), Kaleb Sollenberger (101) and Luke Bettwy (105).
Other golfers who qualified for Tuesday’s championships included Central Cambria’s Tony Benko (79) and Karter Cuppett (83) and Austin Semelsberger (91), Bishop Guilfoyle’s Nick Helsley (82) and Brody Partner-Gore (91), Tyrone’s RJ Royer (82) and Cyrus Ahlert (88), Portage’s Jonah Irvin (90) and Cambria Heights’ Ian Nagel (90).
The other three teams joining Central in the team portion of the event Tuesday will be St. Joseph’s (329), West Shamokin (338) and Bishop McCort (343). Central finished at 344.

MARTINSBURG — Central dropped to 9-5 with a 4-1 loss at Somerset.
The Lady Dragons’ double team of Kaylee Cole and Annabel Shippey earned a victory.
With the win, Somerset improved to 11-3.
